       If you are a homeowner, farmer or small business owner, you have the opportunity to develop a very small or "micro" renewable electricity generation project (10 kilowatts or less in size) on your property. Under the microFIT Program, you will be paid a guaranteed price for all the electricity your project produces for at least 20 years.

Ontario’s Green Energy Act  has committed to create 50,000 jobs in the alternative energy market, and increase the number of alternative energy systems in use in the province.

As a result the Ontario Feed-in Tariff has been introduced.

 The MicroFit program is for systems 10kW and under. Most homeowners will fall into the MicroFit program. You will be paid 54.9 cents for every kWh produced for the length of the contract for a roof mounted system. Ground Mounted systems are currently offering 44.2 cents.  The lower price per kwh is based in on the fact that ground tracking systems produce 30-40% more energy, at a slightly higher installation cost. At the end of the day both systems should earn 11-12% ROI.

Typical returns do vary from site to site.

On average a 10kw Roof mounted system will produce between $7000 to $8000 per year.

Ground mounted tracking systems, will return between $7000 and $8000 per year.
